The Handmade Cake Company is delighted to announce that, this year, we have won 9 Great Taste Awards! This brings our total number of Great Taste Awards won up to 39, since we first entered the competition in 2003.
The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink, and the sign you can trust to highlight a quality manufacturer.
The Awards differentiate winners’ products from the norm and mean that you, as the customer, have a guarantee that these products have a reliable seal of approval based upon great taste and not marketing.
This year, 10,000 products were entered. Over 400 specially trained experts in food and drink came together across 49 judging days from March through to early July, to blind-taste the finest foods and drinks from all over the world.
This year’s winners include our fresh and fruity Pina Colada Cake, zesty Triple Carrot & Orange Cake, and deliciously moist Gluten Free (though you’d never guess it!) Carrot Cake.
We first won an award for a gluten free product in 2014, when we launched our Gluten Free Caramel Heaven. Our development team had certainly found a recipe for success and began working on a wider range of gluten free cakes. Overwhelmed by compliments of how great our gluten free products taste, we expanded the bakery and opened a dedicated gluten free bakery earlier this year.
We have just won a further three Great Taste Awards for our Gluten Free Victoria Sponge, Gluten Free Cappuccino Cake and Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie (which, by the way, also tastes amazing heated up with a dollop of ice cream!)
The final three awards won this year were for our tasty Ginger Flapjack, and two exciting new flavour combinations; our light and fluffy Earl Grey & Blackcurrant Cake, and our show-stopping Pistachio & Rose Cake.
