Loving your cakes
All of our cakes are made by hand by us, your skilled bakers and finishers.
Please do everything possible to ensure that the cakes get to the people who eat them in the best possible condition.
We know loads of simple tricks and tips that will make your life easier as you care for the cakes, and that will help our cakes be at their best when they are eaten.

Our cakes like to look their best, so:
If they have soft icings, please remove their wrappers before defrosting to prevent sticky incidents.
When we pre-cut the cakes we do not cut right through the packaging. Therefore, it is important that you run a knife through our incisions to ensure a clean break.
Cakes absolutely love to be cut with a hot knife. They'll sit quietly whilst you run a large, sharp knife under a hot tap, dry it and cut quickly.

Showing them off...
Please show them off at room temperature. They will get thirsty in a fridge, so if you do want to showcase them in a fridge, cover them up.
Our cakes get squiffy in direct sunlight or near a source of heat - please protect them from these.
A hard morning and lunchtime can leave them feeling a bit tired, and it really cheers them up if someone takes them out to the kitchen after lunch, tidies them up and adds more of them to show off.

Round cake slices don't like being put on plates all alone, as customers like to see them as part of their whole cake. This also avoids them getting thirsty.
They like to be served onto plates using tongs (for traybakes) or pie slice 'n' knife (for slices of round cake).
They love to bask under cake domes, or in display cabinets on the counter, where their public can gaze adoringly at them and be tempted to spend money they hadn't intended to spend. Nothing makes the cakes happier than this.

Putting them to bed...
They like to be put to bed in the fridge, but they insist on being covered with cling film to stop them dying of thirst.
They will keep going for five days if they are properly looked after, but they do feel a bit rejected if they haven't been eaten after a day or two. They humbly ask that you speak to someone from the bakery if they are taking days before they tempt anyone.
They like it if you blow them a kiss before shutting the fridge in the evening, just to show them that you love them.

Relationship Counselling
If you and your cakes don't feel that you are getting on, you both might benefit from someone to talk to. Do, please, call us for advice and we'll happily come and see you.

Making a home for your cakes
After much discussion with our cakes about the kind of habitat that they would like, we found the perfect solution...
If you would like to give your cakes a new home then please give us a call and we can arrange to build them a home like this one. It really is very cosy and your cakes will thrive in one!
